How to remove the MID/ Radio/ Business CD from a BMW 5 Series EURO SPEC E39
FOR INFORMATION ONLY - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!
The removal of the Business CD player and MID unit is relatively simple. It is different from the US spec BMW E39, for which the removal is very well explained on the web for e.g: www.bmwtips.com.
As there was a lack of instructions for the Euro spec BMW E39, here goes:
1. Pull out the volume knob.
2. Locate the notch at the right hand side of the volume stem.
3. Put in a flat screw driver, pull to the right and at the same time put a small screw driver on the left hand side of the MID unit and pull it out.

4. To remove the business CD player, locate the 2 x Allen bolts underneath the CD unit and loosen them (Please note that the bolts are not to be removed but only loosened)
5. Just slide out the CD unit which should now come out quite easily.
6. This took quite some time to figure out as it is quite tightly fit in. First pull up the connector and then pull it at the back.
There you have it - empty bay of the MID unit and business CD player. Re fitting the unit is the same process in reverse.
